Who I Am
Creative Symbiosis is my research project. I am a creative practitioner and researcher investigating how human-machine collaboration transforms creative processes, and this work is the latest expression of that inquiry.

Foundation
The research builds on two decades of work at the intersection of creativity, cognition, and technology. My PhD in Design Cognition at the University of Sydney examined the micro-mechanics of visual reasoning and aesthetic judgement in creative practice. My postdoctoral research at UTS's Creativity and Cognition Studios produced the creative engagement model, a framework for understanding how creative relationships develop through dialogue between participant and system.
Creative Symbiosis extends that empirical habit to the question of how artists develop creative partnerships with AI.
Practice Alongside Research
I was a co-founder of an AI-powered video platform working on personalised storytelling, and I now work as a design consultant on human-centred AI projects. Alongside this, I explore AI-human collaboration through my own music production.
These experiences inform my Substack publication Creative Engagements, where I write about AI-human partnerships and sustainable creative futures. The research and the practice feed each other.
What This Project Stands For
The work centres practitioner experience, prioritises depth over breadth, and stays independent so it can speak honestly to artists, researchers, and developers alike.
Methodology
The research draws on semi-structured interviews of sixty to ninety minutes with international practitioners, exploring the technical, emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of working with AI.
Collaborate
I am actively seeking collaborators to extend this work. If you are a practitioner, researcher, developer, or institution interested in contributing, get in touch.
